  • This will vary and an initial lesson can be set up to gauge whether a child is ready. It is generally recommended that a child be able to count to four and recognise the alphabet up to the letter G before starting instrumental lessons.

  • No, you don’t need to have your own instrument before your first lesson. After the initial session, there’s still no need to commit to purchasing straight away.

    For the first term, piano students can begin with a keyboard to see whether piano is the right fit. Violins can also be rented directly — please contact for availability and pricing.

  • Whilst a piano is recommended for students wishing to progress to an advanced level, a keyboard is a great alternative for students who have limited space or are looking for a cheaper alternative. The recommended requirements for a keyboard are 61 keys (minimum), a pedal and a touch sensitive response.

  • All levels and ages are welcome.

  • Students are encouraged to become independent with their practice. Lessons focus on developing strong music-reading skills and a clear understanding of what to do between sessions, so practice can be done confidently at home.

    Younger students may benefit from gentle support at first, but the aim is always for them to build the skills to practise independently over time.
